Berguedà is a natural paradise located just an hour and a half from Barcelona, perfect for those looking to escape the urban hustle and immerse themselves in spectacular landscapes. This region combines high mountain areas with charming mid-mountain spots. From the endless high-altitude routes of the Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park to places like Sobrepuny, the Berguedà is an ideal destination for those seeking physical challenges as well as for those who prefer peaceful walks with breathtaking views.
Today, we highlight three high-mountain routes for the more adventurous, one moderate and accessible route, and an adventurous outing near Berga for the boldest.
1. El Sobrepuny
- Level: Easy
- Starting point: La Nou de Berguedà (1h 40min from Barcelona, 30min from La Serra Sport & Wellness)
- Description: We will start from La Nou de Berguedà to climb the Sobrepuny, a classic in the Berguedà. Located in the Serra del Catllaràs, it’s easily visible from the C-16 road near Gironella. Standing at 1,656 meters, it’s an accessible and beautiful summit with stunning views of the Cadí and Pedraforca mountains.

2. La Tosa via Camí de les Muntanyetes
- Level: Moderate (long)
- Starting point: Parking Trencapinyes (2h from Barcelona, 45min from La Serra Sport & Wellness)
- Description: This route is an exciting and “secret” alternative to reach the summit of La Tosa. Less known and less crowded, it offers a peaceful and intimate journey through beautiful natural landscapes. The ascent is challenging, with marked elevation changes and varied terrain, but the panoramic views from the summit are an unforgettable reward. This route is ideal for those seeking a less conventional, adventurous path, passing through the rocky formations known as Les Muntanyetes.

3. Pedraforca: Pollegó Inferior via Cova dels Talibans and Gran Diagonal
- Level: Hard (technical)
- Starting point: Parking Refugi Estasen (2h from Barcelona, 45min from La Serra Sport & Wellness)
- Description: This route is for the most adventurous. A spectacular alternative to the iconic Pedraforca, away from the usual Pollegó Superior path. We will climb the quieter, lesser-known part, far from the crowds. It is a technical and demanding route with a significant elevation gain that tests both strength and stamina. We start in a forested area with a steep but easy-to-follow slope, which leads us to the famous Cova dels Talibans. Here, we’ll encounter a short grade II section equipped with a fixed rope, though we may decide to rope up for added security. Crossing the cave adds excitement to the adventure! Afterward, we’ll continue toward the Gran Diagonal, which cuts across the impressive south face of Pollegó Inferior, home to many classic climbing routes. From there, we will keep scrambling until the summit, where we’ll be rewarded with unforgettable views. Finally, we’ll descend to the boulder field and complete a circular route that combines excitement, technical challenges, and spectacular landscapes.

4. Cresta de Queralt and Font Calenta
- Level: Hard (technical)
- Starting point: Berga (1h 15min from Barcelona, 15min from La Serra Sport & Wellness)
- Description: The Cresta de Queralt is an airy and fun route that leads us to the emblematic Santuari de Queralt, just above the town of Berga. No rope is required, but there are two sections where we need to descend carefully. We’ll reach Queralt in about 45 minutes, and from there, we’ll continue on a trail to Font Calenta, where hot water springs from the earth. The route is gentle, and we’ll be excited after the thrilling ridge walk. We’ll return to the car via a circular route, combining adrenaline, nature, and breathtaking landscapes!

5. El Comabona
- Difficulty: Moderate
- Starting point: Coll de la Bena (1h 15min from Barcelona, 45min from La Serra Sport & Wellness)
- Description: Comabona is one of the iconic peaks of the Cadí. At 2,547 meters, it offers stunning views of the region. We start from Coll de la Bena, beyond Gisclareny. At first, we’ll share the trail with the Cavalls del Vent route, gradually ascending through a forested area before reaching the alpine landscape with incredible views of the northern face of Pedraforca. We’ve done this hike in the snow, but it’s ideal for walking in autumn, spring, and summer. We classify it as moderate mainly because of the elevation, though there are no technical challenges.
