Berguedà, located in the Catalan Pre-Pyrenees, is an essential destination for climbing enthusiasts. As a climber myself, I am very lucky to live near this vertical paradise! The region offers a wide variety of options: sport climbing, long routes on emblematic walls such as Malanyeu, Ferrús or the legendary Pedraforca. But today I want to talk to you exclusively about sport climbing and three sectors that are true gems.
These are my 3 favorite sectors of Berguedà
For reviews, we recommend the book Berguedà Vertical .
1. The Moon Rock
- Orientation : Southeast
- Altitude : 1,200 m
- Difficulty levels : 6a to 7c
- Sectors : Two distinct sectors
Description:
Located near La Pobla de Lillet, Roc de la Lluna is a limestone rock face with an appearance reminiscent of the surface of the moon, full of holes and irregular shapes (or at least it makes me think so). The routes are a perfect combination of technique and physical strength, ideal for climbers looking for challenges in a calm and majestic environment.
2. The Grade of the Mola
- Orientation : Southeast
- Altitude : 950 m
- Difficulty levels : 5c to 7b+
Description:
This sector, located near Fígols, is very popular with climbers due to the large number of sixth-grade routes, which offer challenges for intermediate and advanced climbers. The limestone rock stands out for its excellent grip and the diversity of styles, with technical plates and some roofs on the central routes. In addition, access is very convenient, as it is located a short distance from the road. It is a perfect sector for sunny winter days.
3. The Malpass of Taravil
- Orientation : South
- Altitude : 1,000 m
- Difficulty levels : 6b to 8a
Description:
This sector is one of the most spectacular in Berguedà, thanks to its conglomerate rock and the impressive routes it offers. The Malpàs de Taravil is located in the heart of a wild and virgin environment, which makes it a unique experience for climbers. The routes here are demanding, both in terms of grade and the resistance they require, but the reward is incomparable: a natural environment that leaves you speechless.
